policies & procedures
Timeliness - Students must be on time to rehearsal every day. If they are not on time, they will be marked tardy. Once they have 3 tardies, they will be given a detention.
Folder & Pencil - Students will be responsible for bringing their assigned folder and pencil to Choir class every day. This will be a portion of their participation grade for the week.
Damaged Items - Students will be receiving original copies of octavos/music and, in some cases, folders. They are responsible for maintaining the quality of said items. If noticeable damage has been done, or the music is not returned, the students will be responsible for paying the replacement fee for that item. Student supplies will be numbered to insure accountability for lost or damaged items. Please, only write in pencil. Other markings count as damage. These fees will turn into obligations which will inhibit the participation in certain school activities if left unpaid.
Restroom Use - Students have time between classes to use the restroom. There ae multiple restrooms on the way to class as well as one right down the hall from the Choir Room. Students may be signed out of class 6 times over the course of the semester. Exceptions will be made for extreme circumstances, but all effort should be made to use the facilities prior to or after class.
Leaving Class - If a student needs to leave the classroom for any reason, they must use the passport page in the back of their planner provided by the school. If they do not have their planner, they will need to retrieve a new one from the office. They may be asked to pay a replacement fee.
Backpacks & Bags - Students will need to put their backpacks and other bags on the perimeter of the room.
Phones & PEDs - The Choir Room is a "red" room. This means that phones should be off and away for the entire class period unless the Choir Director asks the students to use them for a Choir related activity. At the beginning of class, students will be reminded to put phone, headphones, and other PEDs away. If a phone/PED is seen, the student will turn in the phone/PED to the Choir Director and will be allowed to pick it up at the end of the school day from the Main Office. If this is a regular occurrence, a parent/guardian will need to retrieve the phone/PED from the office.
"Can Do" Attitude - Students will come into Choir every day and demonstrate a strong work ethic and a "Can Do" attitude. People react differently to new things. Some people are excited for the challenge, others are hesitant, and still others become resistant. We will become stagnant if the attitude in the room is negative. Please talk to the Choir Director immediately if you feel negativity is permeating the group.
No Food, Gum, or Beverages - No food, gum, or beverages will be allowed in the Choir Room except for clear bottles of water.
